Frequently asked questions.
What types of therapy do you offer at NY Mindful Living Counseling?
At NY Mindful Living Counseling & Consulting, we offer individual, group, family, and couples therapy for adults navigating life’s more complicated chapters. Whether you’re processing trauma, moving through a major life transition, questioning your relationship with alcohol, or feeling overwhelmed by anxiety or burnout, we’re here to meet you with compassion and clarity.
Our practice specializes in trauma-informed care, including EMDR therapy for trauma, anxiety, and substance use disorders. We also support clients through parenthood, career pivots, grief, and identity exploration — the messy, meaningful moments that often bring people to therapy.
We work with:
Adults seeking trauma recovery and emotional clarity
Clients exploring life transitions or identity shifts
Individuals coping with anxiety, mood disorders, or relationship challenges
People pursuing substance use recovery or curious about their alcohol use
Couples in need of discernment counseling and deeper relational insight
Families wanting to strengthen communication and mutual understanding
In addition to direct therapy services, Amanda Vacca also offers consultation and workshops for fellow clinicians and organizations seeking values-driven mental health training and support.
Each session is shaped around your unique needs, whether that’s untangling the past, finding steadier ground in the present, or building toward a more liberated future.
Do you offer in-person therapy or only virtual sessions?
We offer both in-person and virtual therapy for adults across New York State. If you're looking for in-person therapy in Westchester County, our office is located in Rye, NY, providing a calm and confidential space for healing. We also offer virtual therapy sessions for clients throughout New York, making it easier to access consistent, values-driven care from the comfort of home. Whether you prefer to meet in person or online, we’ll work together to find the format that best supports your needs.
Do you accept insurance for therapy?
We are considered an out-of-network provider, which means we do not bill insurance directly. However, many of our clients successfully use their out-of-network benefits for reimbursement. We’re happy to provide monthly superbills and support you in navigating the process. Learn more here.
How do I know if therapy with NY Mindful Living is the right fit?
If you’re looking for therapy that honors your inner world, embraces complexity, and avoids quick-fix mental health trends, you’re in the right place. We work best with individuals who are curious, open to introspection, and ready to explore what it means to live a more connected and intentional life.
What issues do you specialize in treating?
At NY Mindful Living Counseling, we specialize in treating anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, and substance use. Many of our clients are navigating life transitions, burnout, or feeling stuck in patterns they’re ready to shift. Amanda Vacca, LCSW is a certified EMDR therapist who uses a trauma-informed, individualized approach to help you process the past and move toward lasting change.
Whether you’re rethinking your relationship with alcohol, coping with stress, or seeking support for emotional overwhelm, we offer compassionate, evidence-based care to help you feel more grounded and empowered.
Can therapy help me if I’m not in crisis but just feeling “off”?
Absolutely. Therapy isn’t just for crisis — it’s a space to reflect, recalibrate, and reconnect with yourself. Many clients come to NY Mindful Living during periods of transition or inner restlessness, seeking greater clarity and purpose.
Do you offer support for mindfulness or creative practices?
Yes. Our approach integrates mindfulness, journaling, narrative exploration, and self-guided reflection. We also offer downloadable wellness kits designed to deepen your self-awareness between sessions.
